TRUE STORIES (2022)

In composing the music of True Stories, bassist Mark Wade was inspired by a wide range of musical influences. He has distilled the themes from composers such as Miles Davis, Charles Mingus and Igor Stravinsky to create brand new music for the Mark Wade Trio to explore. The result is a unique expression of jazz linking past and present.

The album was released March 11th in North America on Mark Wade Music and worldwide on AMP Music & Records (Norway). True Stories was selected as a 4⭐️ Editor's Pick for March 2022 by Downbeat Magazine with editor Ed Enright calling it "a living work of modern art." True Stories was also picked as one of the best albums of 2022 by Something Else! Reviews. True Stories was also picked as one of the best albums of 2022 by Way Out West (Japan)

"This album is a fusion of the music of some of my biggest influences and my own personal statements. The music of such jazz giants as Miles Davis, Wayne Shorter, and Joe Zawinul have always loomed large in my consciousness, so it’s no surprise that I would turn to them for a new way forward. I hope you enjoy listening to the music as much as Tim, Scott and I enjoyed making it."

SONGS FROM ISOLATION (2020)

Songs From Isloation COVER.jpg

This is the first solo record by bassist Mark Wade. The five selections that make up this visual album are comprised of music performed solely on the acoustic and electric bass, and each song is accompanied by a music video. All the music and video was produced by Wade at home during the Covid-19 lockdown in New York City. The result is a deeply personal expression of music-making that breaks new ground in Wade’s musical evolution.

The album was released by AMP Music & Records (Norway) on September 18th, 2020 and had a preview performance online through the Centre for Jazz and Popular Music in Durban, South Africa on August 12th. Digital and physical copies are available for purchase. Something Else Reviews  gave Songs From Isolation an Honorable Mention as one of the best jazz projects of 2020.
